Slitting Ultra Light Gauge Strip

Slitting Ultra Light Gauge Strip

Our slitting machines cut metal foil at finished gauge and temper into the width you order from us. Apart from width: edge condition, coil support, coil inner diameter, coil size, interleaf and accumulation method are all characteristics of the final product that are realized during final slitting. Our operators will make adjustments to the clearance as they are preparing to slit in order to minimize the burr as much as possible. Once a coil is slit to final width it can be packaged and delivered to your door!

Our Slitting Capabilities

Capabilities Overview

Austenitic, Ferritic, Martensitic, & PH Stainless Grades
Known for its versatility, stainless steel is used in a wide array of common items including appliances, medical instruments, and cars. We offer eight controlled atmosphere annealing lines, as well as stainless coil cleaning, Ungerer tension leveling, slitting, edging, and oscillate winding. Ulbrich Stainless Steel is the premier producer of stainless & special metals foils.
Nickel Foil
Used primarily for parts requiring excellent corrosion, and strong magnetic properties such as : Lead wires, battery components, transducers, heating elements, and heat exchangers. Our engineers will work closely with you in material selection, and tailoring your nickel strip needs to your specific application.
Titanium Foil
We manufacture commercially pure titanium foil as well as several grades of alpha, beta, and alpha-beta titanium in foil form for applications ranging from aerospace to sports equipment. We will assist you from R & D to large production runs, over the lifetime of your product.
Special Metals & Exotic Alloys
Ulbrich offers many production, and material capabilities that are manufactured to our customers specifications, right down to the packaging and delivery. We strive to partner with our clients to create the best metal solutions to their specific business needs, which is why we have established ourselves as industry leaders.

Manufacturing Stainless Steel at our Cold Rolling Mill

Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, Inc. produces extremely flat strip across its entire length and width. We pay special attention to consistency and accuracy of the of flatness, thickness, and mechanical properties strip coil and foil products to ensure that there are no weak spots. With a century of experience, Ulbrich has served a wide variety of industries in the stainless steel foil market, making for precise and dependable manufacturing processes. In addition to stainless steel foil, Ulbrich cold rolls nickel, titanium, and cobalt alloys in strip and foil gauges for a variety of different markets and applications.

Foil Tempers

We engineer our raw material products to each customer's requirements and specifications. Ulbrich's advanced rolling and annealing equipment coupled with our deep expertise in stainless steel metallurgy allows us to produce stainless strip and foil at standard or custom temper specifications. In our 90+ year existence, we have worked with and gained experience working within some of the most cutting edge, and tightest specifications, supplying metal foil to markets such as the nuclear industry where unmatched precision, consistency, and quality are required.

Stainless Foil in Multiple Grades

We offer foil gauges in over 20 Stainless Steel Grades, including:

  • Austenitic Stainless Steel Foil
  • Ferritic Stainless Steel Foil
  • Martensitic Stainless Steel Foil
  • Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel Foil

Camber

Camber tolerances are available closer than the published commercial range noted below upon request

For strip less than or equal to 1.5″ wide: .5 inches in 8 feet (less than or equal to 38mm: 13mm in 2.5m)

For strip from 1.5″ – < 24″ wide: 0.25″ in 8 feet (38mm < 610mm: 6mm in 2.5m)

Camber is measured by placing an 8 foot (2.5 meter) straight edge against the concave edge of the strip)

Flatness

Standard thin metal foil flatness is .020 PIW or critical flatness of .010″ PIW (refer to sales for flatness options per material/thickness/width)

Foil With Standard & Custom Surface Finishes

We are able to produce stainless foil products in a wide variety of standard and custom surface finishes to meet the needs of your manufacturing processes, and your spec's required surface characteristics.
