Ulbrich Information Technology Department Initiative Featured by DELL in Case Study
Amid the recent Lean Transformation taking hold at Ulbrich, our Information Technology Department was featured in a recent Dell case study. The study identifies and details a new strategy to “lean out” and enhance IT’s methods for backing up data. In collaboration with Dell Software, Ulbrich’s IT Department will be introducing new backup solutions. These solutions will upgrade Ulbrich’s digital storage technology, add real-time capabilities, ensure greater business continuity, eliminate wastes, reduce costs and eventually save time and energy.
Leonard Charran, Network Administrator, Corporate Headquarters who was a vital contributor to this project explained that, ”the DL4000 appliances saved us $8,000 right off the bat. In addition, as soon as deployment is complete, we’ll be saving over $9,000 annually by not having to purchase and maintain tapes and contract with an off-site vaulting service”. As a result, cost and time savings will have widespread effects.
The IT Department and Ulbrich will now be able to spend less resources on managing backup technology, and more resources supporting the development of manufacturing systems, processes and specific needs of customers.
The new Dell backup appliances will be deployed throughout 2016 at multiple Ulbrich divisions in North America.
